Even though we just got around to shooting their engagement photos two weeks ago, I am so excited to spend more time capturing them this weekend when they profess their love for each other while being surrounded by those that love them most. These two, you guys, were so easy to capture as we wondered around Pinkerton Park and Downtown Franklin 1) because its obvious that these two are in love and 2) because they do exactly what I tell them to do without questions or complaints. I mean that's every photographer's dream. Am I right?

It has been two and half months since I stopped to reflect on the small in between things going on in my life. If you missed the first edition, be sure to go back and read it here. In short, this series is just simply about those significant or not so significant nuggets of life that I am ever so grateful for!

I attended a small, rural elementary school. There were about 40-something kids in my grade level from Kindergarten through the 8th grade. With students moving in and out every year, probably only a little over 50% were in my class the entire nine years. So needless to say that we felt more like family than classmates or friends. Everybody knew everybody and everything about everybody, students and teachers alike. And just like family, we didn't like each other all the time, but we certainly loved and fought for each other without hesitation.

The four days that I have been dreaming of for weeks has finally come and unfortunately gone. My friend Allie and I escaped normal life for a bit. Just the two of us. Being away was nice. The beach was nice (and a little chilly). The seafood was nice (actually it was phenomenal). If I am honest though, my favorite part of the four days was the conversations we had. Listening to her wisdom on marriage and motherhood, discussing the frustrations and disappointments of life, thanking God for giving us different lives than the ones we dreamed of as children, laughing at how naive we were (and maybe still are at times), and of course, smiling at the roller coaster of a friendship we share.

It was St. Patrick's Day, but thankfully they chanced being pinched and wore shades of red and denim. Getting out of the car and spotting these two, I knew that our small town would be the perfect backdrop to Margaret and Drew's session. Our session was full of adventures and we never left Pulaski's square. The various alleyways and unique structures not only provided beautiful portrait composition, but made the session exciting. I loved every minute of our time together.

Welling up and only letting one tear escape down his cheek, Cody's eyes shined with love as his bride walked down the aisle with her father. All of their close friends and family joining in the blurry eyes and sniffling noses as they caught a glimpse of her. Madison was radiant in her gorgeously detailed dress with her veil lifted ever so slightly with the breeze. Even the sky couldn't help, but shed joyful tears that day. This describes how Madison and Cody's entire day was. It was sincere. It was romantic. It was genuine. I loved the way that even the wedding décor at Rose Marry Farms exuded their personalities. The sage and blush tones to the roses and baby's breath represented Madison and Cody's relationship.

About 14 years ago, a boy began attending my youth group at church. This boy drove me absolutely insane. I never thought we could be friends. He was constantly pulling pranks and making jokes. For some reason, I seemed to be the subject to most of them. (I am certain it had nothing to do with the fact that I was overly dramatic and hyper-sensitive, thus making me an easy target.) I thought he was immature, annoying, and I could not stand him. As we got older and began high school, the pranks occurred less and less, and real life started to happen. School became harder, we had quite a bit more responsibility, and we even began to experience loss. It was during this time that I was very grateful for the friendship and the hugs that this annoying boy provided. As most of you have probably already guessed, this boy is (now) sweet Adam.

It was beautiful. Everything. The drive down back roads. The windows down. Johnnyswim blaring through the speakers. All of the greens from the copious amounts of rain the previous week. And as I was driving, I was thinking about how this is first official spring session and it couldn’t be much better. Until I pulled into Brennan and Bretta’s driveway (after initially missing it and driving for about a half mile. Thanks, GPS), there was this stunning Weeping Willow that none the less had the sun shining through it. It was almost magical.

"Enjoy the small things." My college Bible professor Senior year said this just about every class as we would leave. He would say, "The small things are what we live between the big things. They deserve thought, too." At first, I was like I do enjoy and am grateful for the small things. However, as I began to become more intentional on finding the small things and began a gratitude journal, I realized that I was thanking God for big or maybe sometimes medium sized things and I just let a lot of small things happen without much thought. The more I began to actually enjoy the small things, the more I began to enjoy and appreciate life.
