A Nashville,TN Engagement

I am a morning person. Ask anyone that knows me. When I get out of bed, I am ready to go. I am the most productive, the most cheerful (most times), and the most lucid I will be for the entire day. Add in sunshine and coffee and all of those things double. However, for Gretchen and Hunter’s session, I had to wake up at 3:20. I probably should clarify that I am a morning person at 5:30am, not 3:20am. Needless to say, it took several minutes, two cups of coffee, and a lot of jams to get me to that point. I think I became a morning person about the time, I arrived in Downton Nashville, which thankfully was the appropriate time to become that version of myself.

A Sunrise Athens, AL Engagement

So I know I have been pretty much non-existent these last few weeks and that’s because I have been moving. (No worries. I will definitely be blogging about that:)) Even though, I have been painting, packing, and unpacking, which seems to be non-stop, I have taken a few breaks here and there to spend time with my couples. Sara and Sean’s Engagement Session recap is below.

A Beautiful Athens, AL Engagement

“So we are awkward, when we are taking pictures.” “Yeah, we just kinda freeze and force a smile.” These were the two sentences that followed our hellos when I arrived at Founders Hall at Athens State on Saturday. My response, “Yeah, everyone always says that. No worries.” And once again, I was right. (The world will one day learn that I am always right.) Josh and Katy were absolutely perfect.

A Memorable Huntsville, AL Engagement

5:45am. 26 degrees. Sunday morning. Blevins Gap, Huntsville, Al. In the pitch black, I sat in my car sipping the my last drop of coffee and giving myself a pep talk. A pep talk about the hike that would prove to be one of the most memorable engagement sessions (for several reasons) I had had so far. The hike started out pretty uneventful and pretty flat, but about 15 minutes in—my lungs and legs were burning. I was having the hardest time keeping up with Shaylee and Ryan, but I just kept telling myself it was going to be worth it.

I met Ashley back at the beginning of this year over lunch. It was one of those lunches where you just didn't want it to end. I could have listened to Ashley talk about Aaron for hours. Every time she said referred to him, her eyes would glow. When she recounted their first date, she couldn't stop smiling. By the end of lunch, I couldn't wait to meet Aaron.

The Place It All Started

Jasmine (aka Jaz). The girl who has honestly done more life with me than most. From Kindergarten at Elkton to Senior year in high school, we probably saw more of each other than we did our own families. Jaz and I did spent most of the first part of our lives doing Girl Scouts, minor league to little league softball, Saturday league basketball, travel basketball, middle school basketball, high school basketball, high school softball, and there are many other things like birthday parties and sleepovers.

A Pinkerton Park Engagement

Even though we just got around to shooting their engagement photos two weeks ago, I am so excited to spend more time capturing them this weekend when they profess their love for each other while being surrounded by those that love them most. These two, you guys, were so easy to capture as we wondered around Pinkerton Park and Downtown Franklin 1) because its obvious that these two are in love and 2) because they do exactly what I tell them to do without questions or complaints. I mean that's every photographer's dream. Am I right?

A Peaceful Country Engagement Session

About 14 years ago, a boy began attending my youth group at church. This boy drove me absolutely insane. I never thought we could be friends. He was constantly pulling pranks and making jokes. For some reason, I seemed to be the subject to most of them. (I am certain it had nothing to do with the fact that I was overly dramatic and hyper-sensitive, thus making me an easy target.) I thought he was immature, annoying, and I could not stand him. As we got older and began high school, the pranks occurred less and less, and real life started to happen. School became harder, we had quite a bit more responsibility, and we even began to experience loss. It was during this time that I was very grateful for the friendship and the hugs that this annoying boy provided. As most of you have probably already guessed, this boy is (now) sweet Adam.

One of the beauties of a small town is you get to know people pretty well even if you have never had more than two conversations with them. (sometimes, you might have never even met them.) You know people that know people that know and it doesn’t take much to learn about a person. Even though Giles County is not as small as other parts of Tennessee, it is still rare to be introduced to someone and not walk away connected in some way. The conversation typically goes something like this.
