I attended a small, rural elementary school. There were about 40-something kids in my grade level from Kindergarten through the 8th grade. With students moving in and out every year, probably only a little over 50% were in my class the entire nine years. So needless to say that we felt more like family than classmates or friends. Everybody knew everybody and everything about everybody, students and teachers alike. And just like family, we didn't like each other all the time, but we certainly loved and fought for each other without hesitation. 12 years ago this month, we said our goodbyes to our small, home-like school, yet it doesn't matter the amount of life that has passed, when we all see each other nothing has really changed. After all, we are still family.
Britney is one of these family members. "Brit" and I go all the way back to Kindergarten, years of Girl Scouts, annual school plays, and even that one year we cheered together. She knows me. Sure, she may not know everything about current Savannah, but she know my start-- my foundation and that is so refreshing. As Britney and Jacob pulled in to our session, it was like a mini family reunion. I am sure Jacob was bored to tears over all of our "catch-up" and "remember when" talk, but in true gentleman fashion, he never let it show. Their session was such fun not only due to the family reuniting part, but also because it so perfectly set up by Britney. Britney wanted a picnic themed anniversary session and with the help of her grandmother's quilt and basket, I think she nailed it! See for yourself below.
Britney and Jacob, thank you for being such easy subjects to capture. I absolutely loved how you gratefully smiled when talking about your eventful wedding day with the tornado; and the picnic theme and the precious details you brought to perfectly summed up your first year together, and the way it is so evident the love that you have for each other. I pray that your first year only reflects a fraction of the many beautiful years to come! Happy Anniversary!
