When I was young, I was absolutely obsessed with horses. I mean obsessed. I had horse border on the walls in the bedroom that I shared with my sister. (Sorry, Taylor.) I had a large oversized stuffed horse that I used as a pillow for many years (too many years). Horse toys, clothing, bedding, etc. I had it all. We even had two pet horses, Beauty and Star, that I would whisper all of my secrets to. As I grew up and became busier with sports, school, and becoming a teenager, my obsession faded. However, I still really love the beauty and the grace that horses are known for. I still love the feel of their velvet-like noses under my hand and the warmth you feel when you lay your head against their neck. My obsession, though it may have faded some, it is still very present.
That is why when I found out that Calon wanted his horse, Mack, in his senior portraits, eight-year-old Savannah squealed. When I first saw Calon bring Mack out, my heart pounded a little, because Mack is stunning. Then I found out that Mack was Calon’s grandfather’s horse origninally, which made this session even more special. In fact, Calon, also, wore his grandfathers ring and we took all of his portraits on his grandparents’ farm. It was such a wonderful tribute to the man that obviously impacted Calon’s life. I am certain that his grandfather would be extremely proud and grateful for the young man that Calon has become. Calon is a hard worker and has a quiet, kind spirit.
Calon, I know that whatever comes after this last year of school, you will handle it like a pro with that great grin and sweet nature. I pray that you enjoy the last few months of high school and can confidently look forward to your future. Enjoy all the little things!
