All day her eyes had been dry. She had fought not to cry as her dad walked her down the aisle and when her very soon to be husband teared up during the vows. And she thought she had made it. Then came the daddy daughter dance. The dance where you are being held by the arms of the man who held you and loved you before you could ever walk or talk. As Jasmine and her Dad started to dance, the tears began to flow. (Jaz’s and mine.) I imagine the conversation was somewhere along the lines of “Shug, you know you will always……….” (sorry, I’m crying again.)
It was just one of the very sweet moments during their wedding day. Jasmine and Antrell had so many family and friends that surrounded them on their day with arms open and hearts full. The joy that was felt in loft when they were pronounced man and wife, and then again, when Antrell got to kiss his bride was unexplainable. And maybe it was just me, because I have know these two so long. (Read our history here.) All I know is that their day was exactly the way I would have imagined it for these two.
Jasmine and Antrell, thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day, for being my friends since elementary school, and for being such relaxed, loving people. I hope your marriage is one for the books, just like your 14 years of dating! I, also, pray that God will only continue to bless your love for one another and your sweet family! Congratulations!
***SIDENOTE: So for those of you who attended 7th and 8th grade at Elkton, I have some very upsetting news. You all know the phrase “I will dance at your wedding.” that was said at least once a day by our very “brilliant" history teacher, Mr. Cross. Well, Jasmine and Antrell invited him and held him to it. All I have to say is the dance he did was disappointing and I am certain it is not considered dancing by any standards. However, I did speak to him today and he said he really just wants to be invited to your wedding. So invite him, just don't expect him to bust any real fancy moves.
